In a dry year like this one, I'm rarely allowed to pick flowers from Dan's garden as they might be needed for paying customers. Finally, it rained and I harvested this fabulous bunch of brown-eyed Susans, sunflowers, mallow, marigolds, campanula and snapdragons. As I was arranging it in a new Vivian Pyle vase, the oilcloth on our screen-porch table screamed out to be included in the still life.
